Magento 2 – Reset Admin Password

Reset Password from Database – Phpmydmin

  1. Open Database via phpMyAdmin / Adminer
  2. Open admin_user table
  3. Run Below Sql Query
    UPDATE admin_user SET password = SHA2('MyNewPassword', 256) WHERE username='admin';

    MyNewPassword: Replace it with your password.I hope it will work for you. Let me know if you any difficulty

Reset Password via CLI

  1. This is best and easiest way to use
  2. You can use Magento CLI to create new admin user with the following command, then you can go and change password of your original user.Execute this from the root of your magento installation:
    cd /your-magento-code-root-directory
    php bin/magento admin:user:create --admin-user="admin" --admin-password="admin123123q" --admin-email="admin@example.com" --admin-firstname="Admin" --admin-lastname="Admin"
    

    Locked Account : Sometimes account gets locked with multiple attempts to login with wrong passwords, you can also unlock account from cli or admin panel. See way to unlock Admin User

     

Reset Password from Admin Panel

  1. Change Magento 2 admin password using the reset password feature.
  2. Go to “Admin Panel” url
  3. Click “Forgot Password”
  4. Enter the Email address  of admin account and click the “Retrieve password”
  5. Check you email and reset password

Reset Password from Account Setting

  1. Go to  your Magento Admin panel
  2. Click on the Account Settings in the drop-down list of the account
  3. Type the new password you want to use
  4. Confirm the new password again by retyping
  5. Enter the old password to verify your identity
  6. Select Save Account
